“National Archives of Modern Architecture (NAMA) 10th Anniversary Special Exhibition “Japan Architects in NAMA”” was end.
The decision to establish the National Archives of Modern Architecture (NAMA) was made in November 2012, and NAMA was opened in May 2013. This year it celebrates its 10th anniversary. Modern Japanese architecture is highly recognized worldwide, and some items are collected at famous museums abroad. NAMA was established to preserve and archive this new architectural culture of Japan within the country. In the last ten years, NAMA’s total archival collection has increased to more than 30 fonds (units of archival collections), and more than 200,000 architectural items, mainly hand drawings, are in storage. The items include drawings, sketches, reference materials, and albums, with the content of each collection differing. This exhibition will show the history of modern architecture through the wide variety of our collections.
The NAMA’s archival collection of the works of twelve architects who have created the modern architecture of Japan will be exhibited in two parts, along with an introduction to NAMA’s activities through the decade.
Part 1: Awake and Beginning
Works by architects that marked the beginning point in their architectural history and works and activities that contributed mainly to the development of modern Japanese architecture are exhibited. Part 1 will follow the thoughts of each architect that led to the idea and realization of these works and how these architectural works are evaluated in society and architectural history.
Part 2: Leap and Challenge
Various inexhaustible challenges by the architects will be shown. Architects take on many challenges over their lifetimes and Part 2 shows their creativity and ways of life, including their representative works and unfinished masterpieces as well ambitious applications for competitions.

篠井家旧蔵吉田鉄郎城端郵便局資料
本資料群は、吉田鉄郎が同郷の城端郵便局第四代局長篠井多喜雄に設計を依頼されて作成した城端郵便局（設計1927、建設1927-28頃）に関連する資料である。城端郵便局の設計図面（青図）と設計時に吉田が篠井多喜雄に送付した仕様書とスケッチを含む書簡（1927年9月22日消印）からなる。加えて、所蔵者の厚意により篠井家が所蔵する当該建築の写真の複製の許可を得た（原本は返却）。城端郵便局は後年に解体されたが、当該資料群は篠井家で保管され、2020年6月に篠井家の蔵から発見された。当館は、別途吉田鉄郎資料を所蔵しているが、城端郵便局に関しては図面（原図1枚）しかなく、本資料群は上記資料を補完する貴重な資料である。

吉田鉄郎
1894年富山県生まれ。1919年東京帝国大学建築学科卒業、逓信省経理局営繕課に入省。1944年逓信省を退職。1946年日本大学教授。京都中央郵便局や東京中央郵便局、大阪中央郵便局をはじめとする多くの逓信建築を設計した。また、別府市公会堂のような施設や住宅建築、コンペ案といった幅広い作品を残したほか、ドイツ語による書籍出版やブルーノ・タウトの著作翻訳など、その活動は多岐に渡る。
主な受賞は、1942年勲四等瑞宝章、1953年日本建築学会賞（『Das Japanische Architektur（日本の建築）』）。

安藤忠雄初期建築資料
事務所創設時からの手描きの設計原図 の一部（35プロジェクト）であり、図面約800点からなる。主にトレーシングペーパーに鉛筆で描かれており、建築のさまざまな内容が1枚の図面に集成された独特な表現の建築図面を含む。

安藤忠雄 ANDO Tadao
1941年大阪生まれ。独学で建築を学び、1969年安藤忠雄建築研究所設立。1997年東京大学教授。現在、東京大学名誉教授、国立近現代建築資料館名誉館長。イエール、コロンビア、ハーバード大学の客員教授歴任。
主な受賞に、1979年日本建築学会賞（住吉の長屋）、1985年アルヴァ・アアルト賞、93 年日本芸術院賞、1995年プリツカー賞、2003年文化功労者、2005年UIA（国際建築家連合）ゴールドメダル、10 年文化勲章、13 年フランス芸術文化勲章コマンドゥール、15 年イタリアの星勲章グランデ・ウフィチャーレ章、21 年フランス・レジオン・ドヌール勲章コマンドゥールなど。

ヴァスムート社旧蔵吉田鉄郎関連資料
本資料群は、建築家・吉田鉄郎（1894-1956）の著作『Das Japanishce Wohnhaus』（初版1935、2版1954）、『Japanische Architektur』（1952）、『Der Japanische Garten』（1957）に関する原稿やページレイアウト、写真の切り取り位置を指示したスケッチ、手紙等からなる。吉田が逝去する直前の1956年までに作成され、ドイツの出版社であるヴァスムート社に送付後、保管されていた。吉田は東京中央郵便局などの設計で知られるとともに、上記著作の3部作は長らく海外における日本建築の基礎文献として知られてきた。本資料群は吉田による日本の住宅や建築、庭園への理解を伝えるものであり、彼の設計活動との関連を考える上でも重要である。

シュパイデル旧蔵ブルーノ・タウト関連資料
本資料群は、ブルーノ・タウトが高崎に在住した時の活動に関わるものである。タウトは工芸製品のスケッチを描き、水原徳言氏ら井上工芸研究所の日本人スタッフが実施制作のために図面を書き起こした。図面にはタウトのサインや印鑑があるものもある。1986年に庄子晃子氏がこれらの図面239点の写真を撮影し、リストを作成した。その後、1986～88年頃、マンフレッド・シュパイデル氏は水原氏より一部の青焼図面126枚と、前述の庄子氏作成の写真の紙焼とそのリストを譲り受けた。なお、シュパイデル氏が譲り受けた青図126枚は水原氏所有の図面の一部であり、庄子氏が作成した写真紙焼資料239枚およびそのリストは、水原氏所有図面の全貌を示している。また、タウトがこれらの家具・日用品をデザインした折の日記・備忘録のコピーおよびそれを水原徳言氏の兄・徳恒氏が日本語訳したもののコピー、シュパイデル氏作成のドイツ語目録４冊も併せて寄贈を受けている。当該資料群はブルーノ・タウトが日本滞在中に作成した家具・日用品のデザインに関する資料であり、建築から家具に至るまでトータルにデザインを考え、多くの日本人建築家に大きな影響を与えたタウトの業績を理解する上で欠かせない資料である。
